“It was such a privilege to watch these tiny turtles hatch out from beneath the sand and scramble their way to the ocean just by the light of the moon.”
Out of the seven species of Turtle in the World, four can be found near Exmouth, Western Australia. The Green Sea Turtle, Loggerhead Sea Turtle, Hawksbill Sea Turtle and the Flatback Sea Turtle. Three of these come ashore to lay their eggs on beaches near Exmouth which hatch after 50 - 70 days at night. This is the most dangerous time in a turtle’s life and why they hatch together and move as fast as possible to reach the ocean.
