Frequently asked questions

  • What medium are your original paintings?

All my original work is created using special dyes on 100% silk. These dyes are fixed permanently to the silk through a process of steaming. The dyes become embedded in the silk and are light fast and fade resistant. As with all pieces of art it is recommended to hang out of direct sunlight.

  • What is the difference between paper and canvas prints?

Paper prints are printed either on 200gsm fine art paper (size A4, A3 & A2) or 320gm cotton rag (sizes larger than A2). Canvas prints are printed on museum grade canvas and are then stretched on to a frame by us or by your local professional framer.

  • How are prints made?

A high resolution photograph is taken by a professional photographer. It is carefully colour adjusted to ensure the optimum colour match with the original. The prints are either created on paper, cotton rag or museum grade canvas by a specialist printer using archival quality inks.

  • Will my print be framed?

Because of the difficulty of shipping glass I don’t usually sell framed prints. All my prints are available in standard sizes which can be easily framed using a store bought frame. Or if you prefer and are able to collect from my studio in Wannanup, I can arrange framing for you. Please email me at sheila.mcneill65@gmail.com if this is something you are interested in.

  • Are your originals framed?

Most of my originals are sold unframed; many people like this more modern look and it means it can be shipped without costing you more. If you like the look of a frame you can choose when you have the painting with you - it’s easier to decide that way! A slimline box frame looks great with my work.

  • When will my order ship?

It will normally take 3-5 working days to process and ship your order. Your order will be shipped via Australia Post or a courier service. I will send paintings and prints tracked and signed for, where available.

  • How will my order be packed?

Paper prints and unstretched canvas prints are rolled and sent in a sturdy tube, marked fragile. Original paintings and stretched canvas prints are bubble wrapped and packed in sturdy cardboard wth corner protectors.

  • Can I return damaged goods?

If an item is damaged it can be returned. I will refund the cost of the item and he shipping costs as long as the item is returned within 30 days. Before returning any items please contact me at sheila.mcneill65@gmail.com so that we can discuss any issues and hopefully find a solution.

  • Will my painting be ready to hang?

Yes, all original paintings come ready to hang. (With cord or wire) You just need to decide where!

  • What is a print?

A print is a high quality reproduction of an original artwork, the print is so fine you can’t see th printed dots with the naked eye.

  • How do I look after my print?

Instructions on how to unwrap, frame and care for your print are sent with your order.

  • How do I look after my silk?

Your silk art will only need a gentle brush to remove any dust.

Your silk scarf can be gently handwashed in luke warm water with a gentle handwashing soap. Dry your scarf in the shade in a gentle breeze or inside. Your scarf can be ironed on the reverse of any silver resist designs.
