Beautiful art brings joy to your heart and home
Let the art that you choose make you smile!
Finding just the right piece of art to hang in your home or to wear can happen in an instant or it can be something that you deliberate over for a long time. But it is something that requires your attention because you deserve to surround yourself with art that brings a smile to your face.
Choose from a silk original, paper prints or canvas prints.
Silk originals are wrapped on a canvas and come ready to hang. There is an option to have some of the originals framed with a box/float frame, see the individual artworks for details.
Prints on paper and canvas are created using only high performance inks to produce long lasting beautiful results.
Paper prints, available in many sizes, are printed on 200gsm fine art paper or on 320gsm smooth cotton rag paper.
Canvas prints are also available in many sizes. They can be stretched onto stretchers ready for you to hang or they can be rolled and shipped ready to be stretched at your local professional framers.
We ship our products worldwide, offering free local hand delivery and free shipping within Australia. All prints are custom made just for you, wrapped in sturdy, protective packaging and sent via Auspost with tracking. Why Silk Art?
Hand painted Silk is beautiful and luxurious. It shimmers softly in a little light showing off the vibrant colourful dyes and details of silver. Sheila creates ocean depths and turquoise shallows using layers of colours and highlights in silver, gold and copper that dance on the silk giving a perfect embellished finish.
Silk is soft and strong
Silk is a resilient and strong fabric that has been used for centuries as a medium for artistic expression and communication around the world. The dyes are absorbed so beautifully on the soft white fabric and the colours blend and mix as they flow. Sheila loves to apply many layers of different colours to achieve texture and depth in her work. No two artworks are the same, even if she wanted to, it’s impossible to create two identical pieces.
To permanently fix the dyes to the silk, Sheila rolls the silk between layers of paper and steams it for 3-4 hours. This process bonds the dye to the fibre of the fabric, without affecting the softness of the silk while increasing the intensity of the colours. Steam fixing the dyes protects the colours from fading, but as with all art, displaying out of direct sunlight is advisable.
Occasionally you might like to, gently brush away any dust, to keep your artwork looking its best.
